Surprise Proposal at Red Arrow Ice Rink — where one of their first dates happened
Sometimes the location chooses itself. For these two, one of their very first dates was at Red Arrow Ice Rink — so he decided it was the perfect place to ask the biggest question.
I have to admit — during surprise proposals I usually feel like a bit of a creep hiding somewhere behind a tree or trash cans, pretending I’m just randomly standing there with a camera… patiently waiting for “the moment.” But it’s always worth it the second they turn around and everything unfolds.
After the “yes” — a walk through downtown Milwaukee
After the proposal we didn’t rush anywhere. We just walked around downtown Milwaukee, talked a lot, and let the emotions unfold naturally.
We moved from busy streets to quieter corners, from the glow of city lights to calm spots by the water. I hardly posed them — just gave gentle direction when needed so everything stayed natural and true to them.
The gallery from this session became a mix of:
real reactions right after the proposal
cozy portraits full of emotion
movement, laughter, and “this is so us” moments
That candid + cinematic feel — not staged, not forced, but honest.
